Welcome To the New Sitening.com!

Hi. My name is Alison. And I’m a writer here at Sitening. Or at least that is what my business card says. “SEO Copywriter”. I’m also the new girl, employee number 13. Lucky me! Last week I kept telling myself that I was going to write a blog entry for the main site (we have a Raven blog too! So many blogs, so little time) about the new site and how excited I was about it. Then I wake up one morning and see Jon has beat me to the punch. Well, fine.

So here I am, almost two weeks later mind you, to let you know we have a new site! And it looks amazing! And I love exclamation points! When I was trying to think about what I could write regarding the new site, I thought I would interview our amazing designer Shelly and see if she could offer us any insight into the new Sitening.com. Here’s what I got:

Alison: Highlight some of the major differences between the old site and the new site.
Shelly: More images on this site. little icons on the headers. More color. Switch from a serif typeface to all san serif type.

A: What is your favorite new features?
S: The robot and the staff photos. The photos add an element of warmth and color along with making it seem more personal or human.

A: What inspired you design wise?
S: Grids. Web trends toward large type. Minimalism. Print design.

 

A: Does the robot have a name?
S: No. The robot came about by trying to think about what we do here and a way to represent it visually. It is a play on the idea of googlebots or search bots and SEO and the internet.

A: How much time do you think you put into the site from conception to launch?
S: At least 100 hours.
