Sitening Sponsors 'Walk for Lupus Now'
Sitening is a proud sponsor of "Walk for Lupus Now," a 5K Walk supporting the Mid-South Chapter of The Lupus Foundation of America.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m., October 13, 2007 in Centennial Park, Nashville, Tenn. The event promotes physical activity and healthy living in a family-friendly setting. Participants walk to raise funds to save lives from Lupus, an autoimmune disease which affects more than 1.5 million Americans, more than 33,000 in Tennessee alone.
You can register for the walk online; mail in a registration form; or simply show up between 8 - 9 a.m. on the day of the walk. You can also participate as a “virtual walker” by registering online and tracking your fundraising. All walkers (physical and virtual) are eligible to win prizes based on fundraising goals.
For a $25 donation you can also sponsor a Lupus awareness path marker in honor or memory of a loved one. Sponsored markers are available the day of the event or by calling 615-298-2273. Markers will be placed along the path the day of the event.
If you have any questions please contact lupustn@usit.net or at 615-298-2273.
About Lupus
It is estimated that approximately 30,000 Tennesseans and 1.5 million people are affected by lupus in the United States alone. Lupus affects mostly minority women of childbearing age, but can affect anyone including men and children. Lupus is a widespread disease that causes the immune system to become hyperactive and lose the capacity to distinguish the body's healthy cells from foreign invaders. Unfortunately, there is no cure for lupus. The Lupus Foundation of America is the nation's leading non-profit organization dedicated to finding causes of lupus, improved treatment methods and ultimately a cure for this devastating disease.
